Yakka Dee JMA Character Animation Demo - 2018

I worked for Mighty Studios in 2018, rigging props, characters and animating for the Yakka Dee animated series. Here's some of my favorite shots. It was a very fun project to work on. When the team was showing the episodes in the meetings, everyone sang along, even those who weren't officially part of the Yakka Dee team.

Dee is a character from BBC - CBeebies.

Here you can watch some of the episodes:

Character Animation Demo. This was the first cut-out project where I animated on doubles.

I made a lot of the animation not relying on motion tween, but breaking it down manually myself using the onion skin.

Dragon Kite.
Breaking down almost manually the poses for this dragon that had a lot of pieces and drag, required a lot of time.

Remember. Drawing the guiding curves in another layer is quite helpful.

This shot was almost approved in the first try.
When I rigged the kite, I wanted the ribbons to follow the rope, so I created a joint in the rope for each one of them.

The milk Brandon Ramirez added later was on point.

Most kawai.

I spend some time tracking manually the swing with Dee. Its good that the flowers cover her hands and help "selling it".

I didnt animate the flowers.
